MASTER OF THE OPERA by Jeffe Kennedy BlogTour

Can You Wait Until It’s Done?
Of course you can!

I get this question a lot with my serial novel, Master of the Opera. Right now we’re halfway through, with three of the six episodes live – Act 1: Passionate Overture, Act 2: Ghost Aria and Act 3: Phantom Serenade. The next, Act 4: Dark Interlude, releases on February 20.

Some of my faithful readers and enthusiastic fans have been following along from the beginning. They love it, yes, but they also complain about having to wait for the next episode. Alas.

Others told me right up front that they plan to read it, but only AFTER all six episodes are available. Fair enough.

In truth, it takes a certain mindset to enjoy the drawn out anticipation of a serial novel. Sure, they’ve been around for a long time – Mark Twain’s novels were serialized in the newspapers, among others. But in today’s world, we’re becoming more and more accustomed to instant gratification. The eReader lets us read what we want to IMMEDIATELY. I can’t be the only one who finishes a book and instantly buys the next in the series, can I?

And that’s with full novels, not the shorter episodes like I have in Master of the Opera.

So, yes, I totally get it if you want to wait and read all six at once. In fact, I’m really interested to hear how people enjoy it, reading that way as opposed to spaced out over weeks.

What do you all think – will you wait or jump in for the agony of suspense?

Could her masterful lover be capable of murder, and worse? Perhaps it was the thrill of danger that drew Christy to him in the first place—like a moth to the flame—instead of a more conventional romance with the opera house’s handsome benefactor, Roman. For the sake of her sanity, she must at least give Roman a chance. But for the love of her master, she must give in to every wild fantasy, every wicked game, and every whim he commands…

Is Christy prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice? To surrender her heart, her soul, her everything? First she must acknowledge the truth: a woman in love can serve only one master…
