About Mender Magic:
Imagine a horse-powered world where magic is used for mending, making, and healing.
Magical ability is rare, but when he breaks a bowl and, distraught, accidentally mends it, Ky Vaux — a poor boy in a poor family — discovers he’s a mender.
Can Ky’s gift of magic support Ky, his mother, and his sister while they try to escape from his abusive and alcoholic father?
When Ky’s gift proves to be more powerful than they had hoped, they can’t help but wonder if it’ll be able to take them farther than they had dreamed!
For those among you who are fans of the Hyllis Family stories, these books might scratch that itch too.

My Thoughts:
This is my first Laurence Dahners and I am a fan already!
I like the story. I like the writing style. What I don't like is that the story requires the reader to dumb down his/her intelligence a little.
The ending is a cliffhanger which means that this is just a chunk of a bigger book.
This book is just an introduction to the world of Ky.
This is my first Jocelyn Duford listen and I would buy another book by her again.

Meet The Author
About Laurence Dahners:
Amazon best-selling Science Fiction writer, Laurence E. Dahners, is a former orthopedic surgeon who has written over fifty books, including eighteen in the popular Ell Donsaii series. He writes optimistic stories in which science solves problems rather than bringing on dystopias. His favorite writing strategy is to imagine, “what if,” some advance (such as teleportation, reactionless drives, stopping time, etcetera) were possible, what changes might be wrought in our world?
How might our hero utilize such an advance?
Who might stand to lose from the introduction of such changes and how might they strive to resist its introduction?
He loves to write such stories and hopes you’ll enjoy reading them.
